Boom Cards

These have been a game changer for my 1-1 and small group literacy intervention sessions. Boom Cards essentially are interactive, self checking task cards that can be assigned to 1 student or a whole class to complete.

It get better! Students success is also collected on the activity so we can see success rate, adapt the difficulty based on actual data and know if they have grasped the concept.

Now, Boom Cards can’t be used for everything but in my sessions the most useful way I use them is to review learning. For example checking their understanding of Apostrophe for omission.

The child simply reads the question and clicks on the answer they feel is right. Boom Cards then give immediate feedback with a right or wrong answer and sound effect. Students get to self correct or try again before it moves to the next card.

My students can’t read well enough. No fear you can add in sound buttons that they simply press to here the question or word they need. You can add manipulative images, multiple choice, 2 choice answers, sound effects….. The list is endless.
