The Gift of Dyslexia

As parents it is really important to remember that our children struggling is down to the rigidity of educational system they are conforming too.

Dyslexic brains are actually wired differently to other peoples brains. We have chains of molecules in which information is passed along and in Dyslexics these molecules are further apart allowing Dyslexics to see the world differently from the majority of people.

This advantage must be celebrated with Dyslexic students. So often they struggle with reading and writing yet this brain wiring allows for incredible creativity and out of the box thinking.

I always focus on this positive spin when talking to my daughter. I let her know that whilst she struggles doing work in a conventional way with aids and support she can complete it as well as everyone else and on top she has this amazing advantage.

I’m sure you know that some of the worlds best entrepreneurs are dyslexic, from Richard Branson, Leonardo Da Vinci, Stephen Spielberg and Bill Gates.
