Book Review

I started reading this book during our first lockdown back in March. I have a daughter with Dyspraxia and as she is still young I was intrigued to get an older child’s perspective on living as a Dyspraxic.

Victoria did not disappoint. She has a wonderful and frank way of describing her difficulties. The book also looks at the spectrum of difficulties facing Dyspraxics and some therapies that may help, including some complimentary therapies. Victoria is able to find humor in her challenges and also doesn’t see them as a block to achieving what she wants, although admittedly not always as gracefully as she would hope.

If you are a parent of a Dyspraxic child or a teacher I would highly recommend this thoughtful and enlightening book. Victoria gives you a glimpse at the world from her perspective, and that knowledge is invaluable. From reading this book how I approach my daughters difficulties has shifted in focus and i feel I am a step closer to understanding her daily challenges and difficulties and a step closer at supporting her in the way she needs.
